Beyond The Pitch - Gabriele Marcotti

Phil and Anto are joined by world-recognized football writer Gabriele Marcotti to take up many of the key stories in Serie A including the problems for Leonardo at Inter Milan, the magical ride that has been Bologna in a season of disarray and whether Napoli can mount that final push for the Scudetto now that Milan seems to have a firm grasp on the Italian title. We also explore the recent purchase of AS Roma and what it means for the legendary club in the near and distant term. We take another look at Mario Balotelli at Manchester City after his recent troubles for the club and what City should do with his unfulfilled potential as well as explore whether Carlo Ancelotti will remain at Chelsea given that the smoke around his tenure does indeed seem muted after peeling back the layers of the issue. We close on a look at youth development in Italy and whether the FIGC has the right ideas to ensure growth in its youth ranks. Some very interesting comparisons with Germany and a market-driven idea that may have some legs after all. Great discussion as always with one of the fine writers in the business today.
